You don't need to speak Swiss German to visit Switzerland - people understand standard German (TV, Books,... are in German) and many speak English. But learning a few local words always gets a smile đ
Swiss (German) = English
đ GrĂŒezi (Hallo) = Hello
đ Hoi (Hallo) = Hi
đ Merci (Danke) = Thanks
đ Danke (Danke) = Thank you
đ Bitte (Bitte) = Please / You're welcome
đ TschĂŒss (Auf Wiedersehen / TschĂŒss) = Goodbye
â Wie gaht's? (Wie geht's?) = How are you?
đ Guet (Gut) = Good
â En Kafi, bitte (Einen Kaffee, bitte) = A coffee, please
đș Es Bier, bitte (Ein Bier, bitte) = A beer, please
đ«Schoggi (Schokolade) = chocolate
đ§ChĂ€s (KĂ€se) = cheese
đ° Was choschtet das? (Was kostet das?) = How much does this cost?
đ» Wo isch d'Toilette? (Wo ist die Toilette?) = Where is the toilet?

đ Tiptop! (Perfekt!) = Great! / Perfect!
đ Ăs bitzli (Ein bisschen) = A little bit
đ En Guete! (Guten Appetit!) = Enjoy your meal!
đ» Proscht! (Prost!) = Cheers!
If you want to impress a Swiss Local, learn this:
đŠChuchichĂ€stli (KĂŒchenschrank) = kitchen cupboard
Pronounce like that: Khu-khi-khesh-tli (Chu-chi-chÀscht-li)
đĄ Local tip: If you only learn two Swiss German words, make them "GrĂŒezi" and "Merci." You'll hear them everywhere and locals will appreciate the effort.
