Family Service Room

Switzerland
If youâre travelling with kids through Zurich Airport, the Family Service Room is one of those hidden gems that can completely change your airport experience. I promise.
Located airside in different terminal areas (most commonly near Gates A and E), these rooms are free to use for all families with a boarding pass. Theyâre typically open from early morning until evening (around 06:00â20:30 depending on the location), so you can plan a proper break before your flight.
What makes this space special is that itâs not just a play corner â itâs a fully equipped family zone designed to cover pretty much every need when travelling with children.
Inside, youâll find dedicated areas for playing, resting and feeding. For babies, there are changing tables with supplies, quiet breastfeeding corners and even small sleeping rooms if your little one needs a proper nap. Thereâs also a kitchenette with a microwave, bottle warmer and basic utensils, which is a lifesaver if youâre dealing with baby food or picky eaters.
For older kids, it feels more like a mini indoor playground: spacious playrooms, toys for different ages, drawing materials, and even things like PlayStation games or table football.
One detail many parents really appreciate: thereâs usually staff on-site who can assist if needed, whether itâs answering questions, helping in small situations, or simply giving you a moment to breathe. But important to know: itâs not a childcare service, so children must stay supervised at all times.
From reviews and traveller feedback, the biggest value of the Family Service Room is how much stress it removes. Instead of trying to keep kids entertained at the gate, you get a calm, purpose-built environment where they can play, reset, and burn off energy before boarding. Many families describe it as a âlittle oasisâ during longer layovers â especially useful if you have a few hours to kill.
Why itâs worth it:
It turns waiting time into quality time. Kids arrive at the plane calmer, parents less exhausted, and the whole travel day feels smoother.
Aaand, there is also a coffee machine with much cheaper coffee than in the cafes outside.
Good to know before you go:
Free for all passengers with kids
Available for all terminals (follow signs for âFamily Services" in Terminal A)
Airside access only (after security)
No drop-off / babysitting
If youâre flying through Zurich with children, this is 100% a stop you shouldnât skip â itâs one of the best family-friendly airport facilities in Europe.
