Tips for Traveling Australia with a Dog
A man's best friend

Our dog, Zenna, has been the best travel companion we could ask for during our 3.5 years on the road in our 1975 Kombi van.
When it comes to traveling with a dog, we’ve learned that planning ahead is key. First, always check if the campsites or parks you plan to stay at are pet-friendly – many beautiful spots are, but not all are.
Secondly, it’s vital to have a dog-friendly routine. We make sure to stop regularly for walks and keep Zenna hydrated and cool, especially during those hot Australian summers.
Lastly, remember that your dog is also on a journey! Give them space to explore new areas, but keep them safe on leash in unfamiliar spots. Our Kombi has been a second home for us and Zenna, and ensuring their comfort and happiness makes our adventures so much more memorable.
Additional Tips for Traveling with Your Dog:
Use Dog-Friendly Travel Apps: Apps like Mad Paws can help you find dog-friendly accommodations, pet sitters, and dog walkers in your area. This is especially useful when you're planning longer stays or need help while exploring nearby attractions.
Plan Ahead with Dog-Friendly Locations: Apps such as BringFido or DogFriendly allow you to search for pet-friendly campsites, parks, restaurants, and beaches wherever you're traveling. It's always great to know where you and Zenna are welcome!
Track Your Dog’s Health and Safety: Pawtrack is a GPS collar designed for dogs, so you can always keep an eye on Zenna’s location, especially if you're in a new area with lots of space to roam.
Check Weather & Temperature for Pets: Apps like Pet First Aid provide useful advice on how to keep your dog safe during extreme weather, including heat alerts, hydration tips, and signs of overheating.
Stay in Touch with Dog Services: If you're ever in need of a quick dog-sitting service, Rover or Mad Paws offer platforms where you can book trusted local pet sitters, ensuring Zenna is in safe hands while you take a break or run errands.
