Hidden beneath the streets of Cefalù lies the medieval wash-house, a relic of Sicilian daily life. Legend has it that the river Cefalino, once flowing alongside the wash-house, was born from the tears of a remorseful nymph. Renovated in 1991, this historical site with its lion-shaped spouts and ancient tubs is a tangible reminder of the town's rich past, where washerwomen once sang Sicilian songs while scrubbing clothes in icy waters. Today, tourists can sit on the cool steps, soaking in the history before exploring other enchanting corners of Cefalù.
