A classic Great Wall of China spot

About the Great Wall of China

The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China is a restored section of the wall that was originally built in the 1300's.

This section of the Great Wall is one of the best to visit, with steep mountains giving you incredbile views of the wall snaking around the tops - surrounded by plants and trees.

The whole journey from one end to the other there is about 3km, with the iconic watchtowers and forts every 100 or so metres - making it perfect for a great morning out.

The best part? You can also take a toboggan ride back down. A far more interesting way to get back to town.

Getting to Mutianyu

There are multiple bus and tour line options to get to the great wall section that leave from different parts of the city, including Dongzhimen subway station.

The website linked below shows the specifics.

Alternatively you can get a cab or rent a car to get there.
