Dali Old Town, nestled between Erhai Lake and the Cangshan Mountains, is a charming ancient city with a history dating back 1,200 years.

The town's cobbled streets make for a relaxing place to amble while having the mountains in the background is definitely a winner view-wise.

The town is known as a bit of a 'retreat' paradise - with China's tech workers regularly taking time out to go and get out of the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities.

Getting to Dali Old Town

The easiest way to Dali Old town would be to take a train from Lijiang direct to Dali and then grab a public bus from outside the station.

You can also get a cab or didi but if you haven't got too much luggage then the bus is very convenient.
