A real-life deser oasis.
About Wuhai Lake
Wuhai is a small city on the edge of the desert that is notable for one thing - having a big lake on it's edge.
From the outside, it looks like the lake was desired to be a eco-tourism area, but development slowed town. Now, it looks like a lake on the desert's edge, with large sand dunes reaching up to the water's edge.
Getting to Wuhai Lake
The lake/ eco area is in Wuhai - a small city just inside the Inner Mongolian border.
The city itself has it's own small airport - though I would say getting a plane to run without delays here is hard, but you can also fly in to Yinchuan and then rent a car and drive across into Wuhai.
