It's not everyday that you see a medieval-style European castle in the middle of a lake in rural China but hey, this is what this is.

About Jilong Castle

The castle is technically a part of the country club built up along the banks of the artificial lake, but get up close and the illusion does tend to disappear a bit.

The castle itself was built by a local businessman as a way to try and attract tourists to the region and it has since become an instagram hot spot.

Getting to Jilong Castle

The castle is on a small island in Wanfeng lake and it is very much off the beaten path.

The best way to get here would be to rent a car and drive - combining it with the other sites in Xingyi like Malinghe Canyon and Wanfenglin.
