I’ve been to Madeira before and thought I knew it well, but this guide surprised me with so many hidden spots I’d completely missed. It’s full of little details and local tips I honestly wish I’d known on my first trip.

I’m already planning my next visit and can’t wait to explore some of the places I found in here. The PDF is really well done too — easy to use and perfect for offline browsing. So glad I came across it. Thank you very much ❤️

Around Madeira was born from a shared dream. We wanted to create more than a travel guide. We wanted to give people a way to experience the island as we do—through local eyes and with a personal touch. Every tip, every trail, and every hidden gem we recommend is something we’ve walked, tasted, or fallen in love with ourselves.

Our story began when Kristy took a spontaneous solo trip to Madeira. She arrived with no expectations—just a suitcase and a feeling that she needed a change. That first visit was the start of something much bigger. A few months later, she returned to Madeira to study through an Erasmus programme. One semester turned into a full year… and that year changed everything.

Somewhere along the way, she met Hugo, a local with a quiet love for his island and a head full of insider tips. Together, we started exploring every corner of Madeira, from popular spots to the hidden gems you won’t find in most guidebooks.

Today, we live on the island and dedicate our days to helping travellers experience Madeira in the most authentic and memorable way possible. Around Madeira is our way of passing on what we’ve discovered—so you can fall in love with this island just like we did.

Thanks for trusting us to be part of your adventure. We can’t wait to show you around.
