Choui Fong Tea Plantation is a stunning tea plantation near Chiang Rai that's beautifully picturesque and a perfect day trip from Chiang Rai (together with a visit to Doi Tung Royal Villa for the most optimal day trip!). This tea plantation seems to be a hidden gem to a lot of foreign travellers but it's absolutely worth visiting!

GET HERE:

50 minutes outside of Chiang Rai city. Best is to get here on your own with a moped. Otherwise organise a day trip with a driver and make sure to head to Doi Tung Royal Villa on the same trip! You can also add in Wat Tham Pla (The Fish Cave temple) if you like.

OPEN: 08.30 am - 5 pm

Free to visit.

There's two buildings with tea plantations around. The left building (as you enter) is more picturesque with a nicer cafe (in my opinion), but by the right building you can walk amongst the tea plantations. It's easy to visit both - that's what we did!

It's such a beautiful and peaceful place. Make sure to walk amongst the rows of tea plants and try the unique teas and green tea cakes from the cafe(s)!
