Hólskirkja in Bolungarvík is a charming church with a rich history. Built in 1908, this wooden church was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and became a separate parish in 1925. Designed by Rögnvaldur Ólafsson and constructed with timber mainly from Norway, the church features beautiful decorations by Gréta and Jón Björnsson. With two large bells dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, Hólskirkja is not just a place of worship but also a piece of local heritage.
