Laufskálavarða is a lava ridge in South Iceland surrounded by stone cairns, located near the road north of Álftaver. Travelers passing through Mýrdalssandur traditionally pile stones to make a cairn for good luck on their journey. At Laufskálavarða, visitors can enjoy a viewing platform with a stunning view of Mýrdalsjökull, home to the famous volcano Katla. It's a cool spot to take in some Icelandic scenery and maybe even add your own stone to the cairn tradition!
