Miette Hot Springs was high up on my bucket list when coming to Jasper, but I didn't get the chance to go before they closed for the season in mid-October. But here's what I know 👇🏻

Miette Hot Springs offers the hottest natural mineral waters in the Canadian Rockies. The springs emerge from the earth at a steamy 54 °C (129 °F) before being cooled to 40 °C (104 °F) for the pools.

It is surrounded by mountain views & bighorn sheep & elk are common sights along the road to the springs.

Facilities

  • Two large outdoor hot pools with panoramic mountain views

  • Two cold plunge pools for contrast therapy

  • Modern changing rooms, showers, and lockers

  • On-site café/snack bar (seasonal)

  • Gift shop and visitor information area

No lodging is available directly at the springs, but accommodations can be found nearby in Jasper, Hinton, or at Pocahontas Cabins (about 5 minutes away).

Things to Do Nearby

  • Sulphur Skyline Trail: One of Jasper’s best day hikes — 2.5 mi uphill trek with panoramic summit views. The trailhead starts right at the hot springs parking lot.

  • Pocahontas Mine Trail: A short interpretive trail exploring the remains of an early 1900s coal mining town.

  • Wildlife viewing: Frequent opportunities to spot elk, bighorn sheep, and bears along Miette Road.

NOTES:

  • Bring your own towel and swimsuit (rentals are sometimes available but limited).

  • Arrive early or later in the day to avoid crowds, especially in July and August.

  • The road may close temporarily in spring/fall due to weather — check Parks Canada updates before heading out.
