Formed over 300,000 years ago within the caldera of a collapsed volcano, Lake Bolsena is the largest volcanic lake in Europe.

Its waters are so clean they are officially designated as "drinkable" by local authorities—a rarity that has preserved a vibrant ecosystem and a tranquil, timeless atmosphere. Surrounded by lush hills and black sand beaches, the lake is dotted with two mysterious islands, Bisentina and Martana, which hold legends of ancient queens and silent monasteries.
