Forget asphalt: here, the main square is still made of packed earth and gravel, just as it was in the Middle Ages. At its center stands the Church of San Donato, which houses a miraculous 15th-century wooden Crucifix.

During the Good Friday procession, the statue is carried through the streets; legend says that if the village were to collapse before the Christ returns to the church, the town would vanish forever.

It is a place charged with a thick, magnetic spirituality.

Free, but small donations are welcome.
