On December 8th, 2017 the 382 dwt cargo vessel Yicel ran aground near Limon, Costa Rica. It had been taking on water and the crew was unable to keep it under control, prompting a decision to beach the ship before it sank. The master made the call in time, as no one was injured and no pollution was released. According to reports, the vessel is going to be towed and repaired at its nearest port before setting sail once more.
