While traveling around the beautiful country of Australia, it is always important to learn about the First Nations peoples and immerse yourself in their culture. A great way to do this is to explore Indigenous art sites and learn about the history of the land you are on. Ngamadjidj Shelter, nestled in the Grampians National Park, is a great place to do just that. These ancient Aboriginal rock paintings are known as the ‘Cave of Ghosts’ due to their white-painted figures. This heritage site offers a glimpse into the history of the Jardwadjali people, who once called it home.

The trail to get to this site is a short 600-meter return, which takes about a 5-minute stroll to reach the shelter and soak in the unique artistry of the past. So, if you're up for a quick adventure and a bit of cultural exploration, Ngamadjidj Shelter is definitely worth a visit!
