If you want glacier views without a big hike, this one’s a no-brainer. The walk only takes about 15 minutes each way, and yeah, there are some stairs, but nothing hectic. At the top, you’ll get sweeping views of Tasman Glacier Lake with its pale blue water, the odd floating iceberg, and those rugged mountain ranges in the distance. It's pretty mind-blowing to think the whole lake used to be glacier.

Even though it looks close to everything on the map, the turn-off to the Tasman Glacier walks is about 20 minutes’ drive from the main village car park so it’s worth saving for either first thing in the morning or on your way out of the park.

If youre up for it sunrise here would be next leve. The light hits the peaks and the lake just right, and if it’s a still morning, you’ll get some beautiful reflections. There’s also a track down to the Tasman River for another angle if you’ve got time and want to escape the small crowd at the top.
