Costa Blanca, Spain

If you’re craving a hike that mixes nature, history and jaw-dropping views. This one’s a local favorite! Starting at Font de Bèrnia in Benissa, the trail winds its way through fields of wild lavender and rocky paths scented with pine.

Follow the signs for Fort de Bèrnia and before long you’ll feel like a true medieval explorer discovering ancient ruins perched high above the valley. The old fortress may be in ruins, but the views from up there are absolutely legendary. The kind that make you stop and just breathe it all in.

It’s a 2.5 to 3.5-hour loop, with plenty of spots to rest, take photos and soak up the magic of the mountains meeting the Mediterranean.

Tip: Start early & bring plenty of water.
