Mazida Ammos is one of Crete’s most beautiful hidden beaches — a peaceful spot known for its natural beauty and unique features. Only part of the beach is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas, allowing much of it to remain untouched and serene.
From the shore, you’ll enjoy a view of the rocky Kavalli islets just off the coast. The shallow, crystal-clear waters and gently sloping seabed make this beach very child-friendly and ideal for families. Parking is free and easy, right next to the beach.

A special feature of Mazida Ammos is the natural clay found in a small cave on the beach, which locals use as a skin scrub — giving it the nickname "Clay Beach." The underwater scenery is also worth exploring, making this a great spot for snorkeling.
Just a kilometer away lies Xerokampos, the village to which the beach belongs. There you’ll find a few tavernas, mini markets, and more accommodation options. On the southern end of the beach, you’ll also see several large villas available for rent, though the area remains largely undeveloped and peaceful.
