When is the best time to visit?

Queenstown, New Zealand
If you're not from New Zealand you might not realise just how cold Queenstown can actually get! Below is a live reading of the weather today, but generally speaking Queenstown has four distinct seasons, each with its own unique climate. However, a valid reason for it's popularity is that it's the perfect place to visit year round, so if your travels don't perfectly align with the winter wonderland feel it will still be magical.
Summer: December — February
Summer brings long, warm days with loads of sunshine hours giving you heaps of time to enjoy the outdoors. Daytime temperatures reach between 20°C and 30°C.
Autumn: March — May
Autumn is a really beautiful time to visit, the trees turn red and gold and look epic when contrasted next to the blue lakes in the region. Temperatures can be unpredictable and range between 5°C and 25°C.
Winter: June — August
In the heart of the Southern Alps, with unrivalled alpine scenery, snow-capped mountains and fresh mountain air, Queenstown is New Zealand’s home of winter. Temperatures range between between -4°C and 8°C.
Spring: September — November
Spring is a unique season when you can literally do everything Queenstown has on offer. The ski fields are open until October, the trees are coming back to life and the temperature ranges between 8°C and 22°C.
