Sunburst Lake is a smaller but stunning alpine lake just a short, easy hike from Lake Magog in Mt Assiniboine Provincial Park. Framed by larch trees and backed by soaring peaks, it’s one of the most photogenic spots in the park, especially if you can make it for sunrise.

You can also make it to Cerulean Lake and Elizabeth Lake which are located along the same trail. It’s a 1.5 km return hike to the first lake (Sunburst Lake), 3 km return to the second lake, and 5 km return to the third lake.

Keep in mind that these trails are only accessible as part of a multi-day trek into Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park - read our full guide for everything you need to know about planning your trip.
