What to Bring Before Your Trip

Shopping / what to Bring from Home to Bali.

Bali, Indonesia

In general, when it comes to shopping in Bali, there are plenty of options. However, the quality is often quite poor, even in many of the stores, and imported or branded products are usually very expensive compared to prices in Europe.

The best places to shop are the local markets, where you can find clothes and other items for good prices. Just remember that the first price is often much higher than what locals would pay, so don’t be afraid to negotiate. Bargaining at the markets is completely normal.

You also have to remember that Bali is an island, which is why imported products are generally expensive compared to local goods. In many cases, shopping in supermarkets can actually be more expensive than eating out.

Things I would bring from home:
• Strong SPF sunscreen, as it is expensive and there are not many good brands to choose from
• Tampons, especially specific brands or applicators, as they can be expensive
• Makeup shades for very fair skin
• Supplements and vitamins
• Certain medicines from home
• Hair products, as it can be difficult to find hairspray and some other products
• Contact lenses and lens solution
• Imported products in general, as they are often expensive in Bali
