Getting To Cornwall & St Ives
Arriving From Abroad
Itās worth checking flights to Newquay airport if you're arriving from the USA, Canada or mainland Europe.
Flights into Newquay from the USA and Canada usually go via Ireland. Once in Newquay, you can get a transfer to St Ives, which is just over 30 miles away and costs around £100 (see transfer info in Tips).
If you're flying into London or travelling from other destinations in the UK, there are regular trains from Paddington in Central London to St Ives, the journey takes around 4-6 hours and usually has one or two changes, the last section of the train journey from St Erth to St Ives is really nice as it's right on the coast!
Trains in the U.K. are expensive so booking well in advance is advised, do not āpay on the dayā, especially during the summer months when prices are higher.
Train tickets are available on the National Rail website & Trainline. There are also regular trains from Penzance to London once you finish your hike.
Travel Tip
I recommend the Trainline App over National Rail; it shows all the stops en route and just seems to work better the the National Rail website
Make sure you get food & snacks for train journeys, food is not widely available on board - see the vegan food in the UK section for more info
You WILL need to pre-book a taxi at the St Ives train station to get to the hotel, there's no taxi rank or Uber
