Grand Portage was once one of the British Empire’s four main fur trading centers in North America. The Grand Portage, or large canoe route, is an 8.5-mile path through waterfalls and rivers that flows into Lake Superior. This path is part of the historic trade route of the French-Canadian voyageurs.
