✈️ Flights from Manila
Best schedule: Take an early morning flight (around 6–8 AM) from Manila to Caticlan. This way, you avoid Manila traffic, arrive before the midday heat, and still have most of the day to enjoy Boracay.
Avoid late-night arrivals: The boat transfer from Caticlan to Boracay stops around 9–10 PM. If you land late, you’ll either be stranded in Caticlan or pay extra for special transfers.
Kalibo vs. Caticlan: Kalibo flights are cheaper but add 2 hours of land travel. If budget allows, always choose Caticlan. It saves time and energy.
🚐 Land & Sea Transfers
Pre-book transfers: Book a “door-to-door” transfer package (airport → van → boat → tricycle → hotel). It’s smoother than piecing it together yourself.

Cash ready: Small bills (₱20–₱100) are essential for tricycles and local rides. ATMs on the island can run out of cash during peak season.
✅ Do’s & ❌ Don’ts
Do: Respect the beach rules — no smoking, drinking, or eating directly on White Beach sand. Fines are real.
Do: Try local eateries beyond D’Mall. Carinderias (small local diners) serve authentic meals for under ₱100.
Don’t: Bring single-use plastics. Boracay enforces strict eco-rules.
Don’t: Expect punctuality. Island time is real. Tours and transfers often run 15–30 minutes late.
🏝️ How to Best Enjoy
Sunset strategy: Skip crowded White Beach for sunset. Head to Puka Beach or book a sunset cruise for a quieter view.

Morning swim: The beach is pristine at 6 AM — calm waters, fewer people, and perfect light for photos.
Hidden gems: Explore Ilig-Iligan Beach (less crowded, raw beauty) and Mt. Luho viewpoint for panoramic shots.
💸 Budgeting
Daily budget: ₱2,000–₱3,000 per person/day covers meals, transport, and a mid-range activity. Luxury resorts can push this higher.
Save on food: Mix sit-down restaurants with local turo-turo (point-and-eat stalls). You’ll cut costs and taste authentic Filipino cooking.
Splurge wisely: Spend on experiences (island hopping, parasailing) rather than overpriced cocktails.
👥 Culture & People
Locals are friendly but appreciate politeness. A simple “Salamat po” (thank you) goes a long way.
Bargaining is acceptable in souvenir shops, but not in restaurants or transport.
Respect the island’s cleanup efforts. Boracay was closed in 2018 for rehabilitation, so locals are protective of its environment.
🍴 Food Tips
Must-try: Chori burger (chorizo burger sold by beach vendors), fresh seafood paluto (buy seafood at the market, have it cooked at a nearby eatery), and calamansi muffins from Real Coffee.
Skip: Overpriced buffets along White Beach — they’re tourist traps with average food.
