For some of the most breathtaking and wild coastal scenery in Ireland, you have to experience the Benwee Head loop. Starting from the small Gaeltacht village of Carrowteigue, this challenging 12km hike takes you along the top of staggering cliffs that drop dramatically into the Atlantic, they're even higher than the Cliffs of Moher! You'll be trekking across open bogland and sheep paths, so good boots are a must, but the reward is unparalleled views of rugged sea stacks and the vast Broadhaven Bay. The trail is well-marked but completely exposed to the elements, so be prepared for a true adventure that takes about 3 to 5 hours.
