Kieran - Exploring Scotland

The Ballachulish Slate Quarry was once the heart of the Scottish slate industry, churning out top-quality roofing material for over 300 years. With its skilled workers and impressive quarrying techniques, the mine thrived until cheaper imports and labor disputes led to its closure in the 1950s. Today, visitors can explore the remains of the quarry, marvel at the slate arch, and take in the stunning views of Beinn a Bheithir and Loch Leven. It's a fascinating glimpse into Scotland's industrial past and a great spot for a day out!
