Lisbon, Portugal

Breakfast in Lisbon is usually quick, simple and affordable.

Most locals go for:

  • A coffee + pastry or sandwich

  • Something like a croissant, toast or a sweet treat

Look out for local favourites like:

  • Pão de Deus (Bread of God) – soft sweet bun topped with coconut

  • Bola de Berlim – Portuguese doughnut filled with custard

For coffee, you’ll typically order:

  • Bica – like an espresso

  • Galão – similar to a latte (served in a tall glass)

  • Meia de leite – half coffee, half milk (served in a cup)

Tip: bakeries are everywhere – grab something quick at the counter and stand with a coffee like a local.
