What to order:

Pimiento relleno de bonito (stuffed pepper with tuna) or a classic Gilda — a skewer of guindilla pepper, anchovy, and olive, widely considered the first pintxo to ever exist.

Both are house favourites and among the best examples you’ll find in the Old Town. We loved pairing a Gilda with vermouth, a very traditional choice and great for digestion during a pintxos crawl.

Why it’s here:

A true San Sebastián classic that’s been serving locals since 1942. The long bar is packed with traditional pintxos and has a lively, old-school atmosphere that feels very Donostia.

Tip:

It gets busy, so order confidently at the bar and keep things moving. This is best as a quick stop with a glass of txakoli (local white wine) or vermouth, enjoyed by locals as a classic pre-lunch or early-evening aperitivo before heading to the next spot.
