This area is located about an hour’s walk from the Robiei cable car. You can either hike there directly or reach it via the circular “Glacier Path.” We did the loop in a way that brought us here toward the end of the hike—after about 4 hours of walking. The full round tour takes around 5 hours in total. But if this spot is your main destination, just do the loop in the opposite direction and you’ll get here just after 1 hour.

The area looks like a small high plateau, lush and green, with a landscape that almost feels like the Shire from The Lord of the Rings. Wandering through the meadows, with little streams all around and views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers, felt absolutely magical.

You can take the gondola from San Carlo to Robiei and then start the hike.
