Laghetto Cima Juribrutto – A Hidden Gem for Mountain Lovers
The hike to Laghetto Cima Iuribrutto starts at Malga Vallazza, and what follows is honestly one of my favorite unknown circular hikes I’ve done in the Dolomites. It takes around 3.5 hours in total, but trust me – you’ll want to plan in more time. There’s just so much to see, and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking.
We did the hike in the afternoon and stayed for sunset at the lake. Unfortunately, some clouds rolled in right before the sun hit the peaks – classic timing 😅 – and just as the wind calmed down and the lake got that perfect reflection, the mountains were covered. Still, it was a magical moment.
In summer, this spot is actually perfect for sunset. Normally the mountains in the background are lit up beautifully in golden light. Along the way, you also pass the stunning Malga Juribrutto, which is worth a stop on its own.
You can do the loop in either direction – starting with the lake or the malga. If you’re heading out in the morning, I’d recommend taking the steeper path up to the lake first. But if you’re planning to catch sunset at the lake, go to the malga first and reach the lake later – then you can enjoy both.
Don’t forget your headlamp or flashlight if you’re staying out late, and maybe pack a little picnic. I absolutely loved both the malga and the lake – and during the whole time, we only saw three other hikers. A peaceful, quiet corner of nature that I’ll 100% return to.
