Remember your universal travel adaptor

South Africa
South Africa primarily uses the Type M plug with three large round pins. While many modern hotels now offer USB ports or universal outlets, this isn’t guaranteed—especially in guesthouses, self-catering accommodation, or older properties.
I always recommend packing a universal travel adapter so you can charge your devices wherever you stay. If you’re planning a road trip or long days exploring, a power bank is also worth bringing.
Good to know: South Africa uses 230V electricity at 50Hz, and most modern phone and laptop chargers are compatible without needing a voltage converter.
Forgot your adapter? You can easily buy one at the airport, major supermarkets, electronics stores or travel shops.
