Mount Ainslie ā Canberra
A short hike with a rewarding panoramic view of the capital.
Yarrangobilly Caves
Detour-worthy limestone caves tucked in Kosciuszko National Park.
From there, drive to Cooma, then continue through Jindabyne and onto Thredbo.

Greyhoundās Snow Express service is a solid choice. It runs directly from Sydney or Canberra, with the 2025 season kicking off on June 6. You can bring your snow gear at no extra charge, but book early, seats go fast.

Fly into Canberra Airport, rent a car, and drive to Cooma. This is the fastestābut priciestāoption. Youāll still have time to visit the Yarrangobilly Caves before heading to Thredbo.
