Selfoss is a town of 6, 512 people in South Iceland, located 50 kilometers away from Reykjavík. It is known for its cultural attractions, such as the Sumar á Selfossi festival and the Bobby Fischer Centre. With its suspension bridge over the Olfusá river, it serves as an important hub of agriculture, horticulture and small industries in the south. There is a nearby mountain named Ingólfsfjall which is believed to be where Iceland’s first man, Ingólfur Arnarson, spent his first winter in 873 AD. As one of the last stops before heading to the South Coast, Selfoss makes for the perfect escape while exploring Iceland.
