With around 280 meters is Heimaklettur the highest mountain of the Vestmannaeyjar islands. The view on top is mesmerizing but the effort to climb up is according to the view you get on top.

The path leading up Heimaklettur is very steep and on some places you have to climb a ladder to keep on. This is the reason why I would only recommend people to climb Heimaklettur who are used to hike. When reaching the top the view is mesmerizing. You can even spot sheep on top which left me thinking how they could reach the top over the ladders.

Due to the difficulty of the hike you should not be afraid of hight and consider the weather conditions when starting off. The ladder and walking paths are very slippery in rain and wet weather. It is recommended for insecure hikers to be always accompanied by experienced hikers.
