Krafla is a volcanic caldera in Iceland known for its 10 km diameter and 90 km long fissure zone. Located in the Mývatn region, it sits on the Iceland hotspot atop the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. With 29 reported eruptions in history, Krafla has been a hotbed of volcanic activity, including the Krafla fires between 1975 and 1984. Visitors can see the crater Víti with its green lake and explore the geothermal area of Hverir at the foot of Námafjall mountain.
