Came here in May, and wow.. there were so many butterfly's flying around you in this short walk! It was quite a magical place!

About: The Butterfly Walk on Magnetic Island is a short, enchanting trail nestled in Horseshoe Bay, offering a unique opportunity to witness a natural spectacle. Spanning approximately 280 meters, this easy walk meanders through a shaded forest that becomes a haven for thousands of butterflies between April and September. During this period, species such as the Blue Tiger, Common Crow, and Purple Crow congregate here to rest and conserve energy, creating a mesmerising display of fluttering wings.

Accessible from Dent Street or Heath Street, the trail is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, making it an ideal outing for families and nature enthusiasts. Visitors are encouraged to tread quietly and respectfully to avoid disturbing the resting butterflies . The best time to experience the butterflies in full splendour is during the cooler months, particularly in the mid-afternoon when they are most active.
