You have to do this hike when on Magnetic Island! Amazing views but on the way you have to keep your eyes for some koala's!! Tip: some people leave sticks on the path to point you to the Koala.

About: The Forts on Magnetic Island is a captivating 4 km return trail that seamlessly blends natural beauty, wildlife encounters, and historical intrigue. Starting at the Forts Junction, the moderately graded path winds through eucalypt and acacia woodlands, offering hikers a chance to spot wild koalas lounging in the trees—a highlight for many visitors. As you ascend, the trail leads to well-preserved World War II fortifications, including gun emplacements and observation posts, which were part of the Magnetic Battery built between 1942 and 1943 to defend Townsville during the war.

The walk typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, and it's advisable to embark early in the day to enjoy cooler temperatures and increased wildlife activity.
