Step into the quirky and captivating mountain town of Manitou Springs, nestled right at the foot of the majestic Pikes Peak. You can spend a delightful day strolling through the historic downtown, popping into the eclectic mix of art galleries, boutiques, and local eateries that give the town its unique character. Be sure to bring a water bottle to sample the famous mineral spring water that flows freely from fountains throughout the area. For the more adventurous, the extremely challenging Manitou Incline and numerous hiking trails are nearby, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Insider Tips:
Park once and walk everywhere if you can. Downtown Manitou is tiny but insanely tight on parking, especially weekends and summer afternoons. I recommend parking on the edge and strolling the whole strip.
Hit the Penny Arcade when it’s quieter (morning or early weekday). It’s weirdly charming and way more fun when you’re not shoulder-to-shoulder with crowds.
Explore the side alleys and stairs off Manitou Avenue. You'll find little galleries, tucked away patios, creekside paths, and random art nooks that most people walk right past.
