Escape to the stunning beauty of Lake San Cristobal, a true gem tucked away in the heart of the San Juan Mountains. As the second largest natural lake in Colorado, it offers a perfect retreat for everyone.

You can spend a couple of hours paddling on the crystal clear water or trying your luck at fishing for trout. This is also a great area for a picnic.

For a bit more adventure, explore one of the many nearby hiking trails that range from easy walks to more challenging climbs. The main access to the lake and the public boat ramp are conveniently located, so you can be out on the water or on the trail within minutes of arriving.

Insider Tips:

  • Check out the Goose Island Suspension Bridge for a unique adventure. You'll end up on Goose Island in the middle of Lake San Cristobal!

  • Be aware that water in Colorado can be COLD. Cold shock is real. Always bring PFD devices with you if you're playing on the water.
