Nestled in a breathtaking valley about five miles from Crested Butte, Oh Be Joyful is your gateway to high altitude adventure. You'll find yourself surrounded by spectacular mountain views, with the Slate River running right past your campsite. From camp, you can embark on a challenging but incredibly rewarding hike, like the trail to Blue Lake, which winds through wildflower-filled meadows and past cascading waterfalls. Be prepared for a bit of a rugged entrance; the access road is steep, and you may need to cross the river to reach the main trailhead, but the stunning scenery is more than worth the effort.

Insider Safety Tip:

  • The hike to Blue Lake is HARD. It is 13 miles round trip and recommended for experienced hikers only. During fall, you can see beautiful colors within the first couple of miles of trail.
