Taganana is a tiny, rugged village in the Anaga hills known for jaw-dropping coastal views and black-sand beaches, so plan like you are visiting a remote fishing spot rather than a resort town. The road in is narrow and winding, so arrive early to find parking or take the infrequent public bus if you prefer not to drive; streets and parking are tight. Bring sturdy shoes and layers, because trails down are steep and the weather can be much windier and cooler than the south side of the island. The beaches are scenic but often have strong currents, so swim with caution or stick to shoreline photos. There are a few seafood restaurants and small shops serving fresh local food, typically busiest at lunchtime and sometimes cash-friendly, and accommodations are basic, intimate guesthouses rather than full-service hotels.
