You can do this if you don't want to do the full Pico do Areiro-Pico Ruivo hike! PR 1.2 - Vereda do Pico Ruivo is a moderate difficulty trail that takes you to the highest point in Madeira, Pico Ruivo, standing at 1862 meters. This shorter hike starts at Achada do Teixeira, a 2.8 km trek each way with stunning views of the central mountain massif. Along the way, you might even find yourself above the clouds!
