Metro Line 4 — Children's Palace Station. Walk up before the crowds arrive. Deng Xiaoping statue at the summit. City views. Aerobics groups and kite fliers. Free. Allow 75 minutes.
🚶 11:00am — Walk south toward the Civic Centre
15 minute pleasant walk downhill through the park toward Civic Centre. No metro needed.
🏛️ 11:15am — Shenzhen Museum
Inside the Civic Centre — Wing A. Free. Shenzhen's extraordinary journey from fishing village to megacity. The scale models and multimedia exhibits are genuinely impressive. Allow 60 to 75 minutes.
🍜 12:30pm — Lunch at Link CentralWalk
5 minute walk from Civic Centre. Multiple floors of restaurants. Budget ¥50 to ¥100 per person. Good variety of Chinese and international options.
📚 2:00pm — Shenzhen Library and Concert Hall
7 minute walk from Link CentralWalk. Arata Isozaki architecture. The plaza between the two buildings is your best photo stop of the afternoon. Free to enter the library. Allow 45 minutes.
🚶 2:45pm — Walk back through Civic Centre plaza
The Civic Centre's wing-shaped roof from the plaza below is one of the great architectural photos in Shenzhen.
☕ 3:00pm — Coffee at Link CentralWalk
Rest before the observation deck.
🚇 3:30pm — Metro to Ping An Finance Centre
Convention and Exhibition Center Station to Shopping Park Station — 2 stops on Line 1. Walk 8 minutes.
🏙️ 4:00pm to 6:30pm — Ping An Finance Centre
Arrive for golden hour. 599 metres. Second tallest building in China. The sky changes colour below you. Book tickets in advance.
🌃 7:30pm — Civic Centre Night Light Show
Walk back to Civic Centre — 15 minutes. Show at 7:30pm, 8:30pm or 9:30pm. Free. The perfect close to a Futian day.
🚇 By 10:30pm — Head back to Lo Wu
Line 1 east to Luohu. Last train to Hong Kong.
End: 11pm back in Hong Kong
