The most local Shenzhen day on the list. Everything in Luohu — the oldest and most authentic district. The border market, Dongmen Street food trail, Shenzhen Museum, the Civic Centre and Link CentralWalk. A day that shows you what Shenzhen was before it became what it is now.
Full Day Timing:
🕙 10:00am — Lo Wu Border
No metro needed for the first stop.
🛍️ 10:15am — Lo Wu Commercial City
Walk straight in from immigration. Multiple floors. 60 minute browse. This is one of the last great border markets of its kind.
🚇 11:15am — Metro Line 1 to Laojie Station
5 minutes from Luohu Station.
🍜 11:30am — Dongmen Old Street Food Trail — morning snacks
Egg waffles immediately. Walk the full length before you commit to anything. Skewers, bubble tea, local breakfast stalls. Budget ¥30 to ¥50.
🚇 12:30pm — Metro to Civic Centre
Line 1 west then Line 2 or 4 to Civic Center Station — approximately 25 minutes.
🏛️ 1:00pm — Shenzhen Museum
Free. Inside Civic Centre Wing A. The story of how this city was built from nothing in 40 years. The most important 60 minutes you can spend understanding what you're walking around.
🏛️ 2:15pm — Civic Centre exterior and plaza
Walk the full plaza. The wing-shaped roof. The scale. The public spaces. 30 minutes.
🍜 2:45pm — Lunch at Link CentralWalk
5 minute walk. Full meal now — you've been snacking all morning. Budget ¥60 to ¥100 per person.
🚶 4:00pm — Walk back east toward Luohu
Metro Line 1 east toward Luohu and Dongmen area.
🛍️ 4:30pm — Dongmen Old Street afternoon
Return to Dongmen as the afternoon market warms up. Street food stalls multiply. The energy picks up significantly from 4pm onward.
🍽️ 6:30pm — Dinner in Dongmen area
Sit-down restaurant around Laojie Station. Hot pot, seafood, local Cantonese dishes. Budget ¥60 to ¥120 per person.
🌃 7:30pm — Optional: Civic Centre Night Light Show
Metro back west 25 minutes. Show at 7:30pm, 8:30pm or 9:30pm. Free.
🚇 By 10:30pm — Head back to Lo Wu
Line 1 east to Luohu. Last train to Hong Kong.
End: 11pm back in Hong Kong
