Cape Reinga is the northernmost point of mainland New Zealand and it feels like the edge of the world. There is a big car park and from there it is an easy short walk down to the lighthouse. It is very windy most of the time, so bring a warm jacket even in summer.

This is where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean and you can see the waves crashing into each other. In Māori culture, this place is sacred because it is believed to be where the spirits of the dead begin their journey back to Hawaiki. The views are incredible and sunset here is magic.
