Napier is a cool stop on a North Island road trip. The town has a really unique Art Deco style because it was rebuilt after a big earthquake in the 1930s, so it feels a bit like stepping back in time. If you can, try to plan your visit during the famous Art Deco Festival at the end of the summer, around February. The whole city dresses up, there are vintage cars everywhere, and people walk around in 1930s outfits. It is really fun.

You can also walk along Marine Parade, grab fish and chips by the beach, and check out the small boutiques and cafés. One day and one night here is perfect before you hit the road again.
