If you’re heading to Stewart Island, I recommend leaving your car at the ferry terminal parking. The lot is secure, so you don’t have to worry if you’re gone for the day or overnight. It’s really convenient, right next to the terminal, and there’s plenty of space for cars.

If you’re visiting in summer, I suggest coming early because the parking fills up quickly at that time of year.
