The Routeburn Track Parking Area is the main starting point for one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. It is easy to reach and sits in beautiful Fiordland National Park with mountains and forest all around. You can often see kākā in the trees nearby, which is a fun bonus while you get ready to hike. The parking area has restrooms and info boards, and hikers usually chat and share tips before heading out. It is a friendly and scenic spot to start your adventure.
